Common questions

The distance to the green says "Green not mapped". What do I do?

Course scorecards give us pars and yardages, but not the GPS coordinates of each green — those do not exist in any public database, so golfers map them.

Tap Pick green on map, drag the satellite map until the crosshair sits on the middle of the green, and save. You can do this from your sofa before the round. If you are already standing on the green, tap I'm on the green — use my GPS instead.

Once a green is pinned it stays pinned, for you and for everyone else who plays that course.

The distance readout seems off.

Two things to check. First, the green pin: if it was dropped on the edge of the green rather than the middle, every reading will be off by the same amount. Tap the map preview on the play screen to adjust it.

Second, GPS accuracy: phones are typically accurate to about 5 metres outdoors, worse near trees or buildings. Give it a few seconds outside to settle before trusting the number.

What is the Smart Caddy actually doing?

It converts the raw GPS distance into a "plays like" distance using the current conditions, then matches that to the closest club in your bag.

It needs two things to be useful: clubs in your bag (Settings → Your bag) and a mapped green. It is a nudge, not gospel — a caddy suggests, you decide.

How do group rounds work?

Tap a course, choose Host a group, and you get a six-character code. Everyone else taps Join on the Courses tab and enters it. Scores sync live and everyone sees the same leaderboard.

Players joining a group round do not need to have that course saved themselves.

I closed the app mid-round. Did I lose my scores?

No. Closing the play screen pauses the round rather than discarding it. A Round in progress banner appears at the top of the Courses tab — tap Resume to pick up on the same hole with the same scores.

Nothing is written to your history or statistics until you explicitly choose to save, so an accidental tap never pollutes your stats.

Why does a course I added not show up for my friend?

Course libraries are per-golfer. Adding a course saves it to your list only. Your friend adds it to theirs the same way, and both of you then share the same green pins.

Can I switch between yards and metres?

Yes — Settings → Distance units. It applies everywhere, including the big number on the play screen and your club carries.

How do I delete my data or my account?

Both are in Settings, at the bottom. See the account deletion page for exactly what each one removes.

Reporting a problem with another golfer

If someone in a group round is using an offensive display name, or you want to stop playing with them, email ffuensalida@icloud.com with the round's invite code and what you saw. We investigate every report and can remove a display name or an account. You can also leave any group round immediately by closing it from the play screen.
